Your Free Resource For Finding Meeting Volunteers

By Carolyn Clark

Hoping to find where the most promising minds in the meetings industry are learning? Using a grant from the PCMA Education Foundation, three PCMA faculty members are making the search much easier with a new comprehensive, searchable database that includes 430 higher education institutions with meeting-specific courses.

Meeting planners can benefit from this new database - if you are looking for volunteers to assist at your meeting, these schools have eager students seeking on site experience to add to their resume.

The members responsible for developing the database have a finger on the pulse of collegiate learning. All three of them are leaders at their respective institutions. B.J. Reed is a Professor & Director of Teaching & Learning at University of Wisconsin Platteville. Amanda K. Cecil is Undergraduate Program Director & Associate Professor of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management at the IU School of Physical Education & Tourism Management. Lynn Randall is Managing Partner at Randall Insights, LLC.

“B.J., Amanda and Lynn’s work, with support from the PCMA Education Foundation, have helped PCMA develop a tremendous new asset for the industry,” Tom Foley, senior director, member services and business development, PCMA, says. “Whether someone is looking to get into a career in meetings management or searching for ways to tap into the resources of local schools with meetings programs or courses, this is a simple way to find the answer.”

“There are so many programs that offer valuable education in the meetings and events space,” Foley adds. “This will serve as a comprehensive search tool to help users locate the right program.”

“This won’t just be for PCMA members,” Foley says. “Anyone will be able to access the list. It’s truly an industry resource.”
