Richard A. "Dick" Daignault Award


This award was created by the Chapter in 1994 in honor of Dick Daignault, a long time Hilton Sales Representative, a career long member of PCMA, and a dear friend to his peers, his customers, and his competitors. Dick passed away in June 1994 at the age of 64. This award is presented to a gracious and generous supplier partner who provides leadership through mentoring, demonstrates integrity, and shows consistent respect for colleagues.

Award Criteria

  • Annually Awarded
  • Nomination by GMC PCMA member in good standing
  • Minimum 10 years total membership in PCMA and 5 years membership in GMC PCMA
  • Preferred minimum of 15 years employment in the hospitality industry recommended
  • Not a current member of the GMC PCMA Board of Directors or the Awards Committee
  • Has history of active volunteerism at the chapter level over the past 5 years and is an industry volunteer
Nominee Attributes

  • Consistently represents his/her organization in a positive and professional manner at all industry functions
  • Consistently shows sensitivity, consideration, and respect for colleagues
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to others by demonstrating the ability to listen and provide feedback in a positive manner
  • Graciously extends a warm welcome to attendees, newcomers, as well as veterans at industry events
  • Understands and supports the value of the "lighter side" of business; establishing lasting friendships and partnerships
  • Is visibly committed to and demonstrates credibility and integrity within the meeting and convention profession
  • Possesses a strong work ethic

Robert J. "Bob" Donovan Award

This award was created by the Chapter in 2001 in honor of Bob Donovan, Vice President, Meetings & Travel Services, American Hospital Association. Bob is a career long member of PCMA, and a person who is committed to the continuity and growth of the industry by mentoring new industry professionals, while always maintaining an open door policy. This award is presented to an outstanding meeting professional who leads by example, inspires volunteerism, and is committed to the growth of the industry.

Award Criteria

  • Annually awarded
  • Nomination by GMC PCMA member in good standing
  • Minimum 10 years total membership in PCMA and 5 years membership in GMC PCMA
  • Preferred minimum of 15 years employment in the hospitality industry recommended
  • Not a current member of the GMC PCMA Board of Directors or the Awards Committee
  • Established planner in the industry
  • Has history of active volunteerism at the chapter level over the past 5 years and is an industry volunteer

Pillar Award

This award was created by the chapter in 2003 to honor a professional or supplier who is recognized as an unyielding supporter of the chapter through dedicated participation, enthusiastic committee involvement, and leadership.

Award Criteria

  • Annually Awarded
  • Nomination by GMC PCMA Chapter committee member in good standing
  • Current, active member of a committee in the GMC PCMA chapter, not a current member of the GMC PCMA Board of Directors or Awards Committee
  • Member of PCMA and GMC PCMA
Nominee Attributes

  • Recognized as an unyielding supporter of the chapter through dedicated participation
  • Possesses a strong work ethic
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Enthusiastic committee involvement
  • Consistently represents their organization in a positive and professional manner at all industry events
  • Contributes significantly to the advancement of the industry

The GEM Award

The Gem Award is presented to a professional or supplier who is both a new member of the Greater Midwest Chapter and is currently serving on a committee. Nominated by committee chairs, this volunteer demonstrates passion, and has taken an active role in the achievements of that committee by consistently going the extra mile.

Award Criteria

  • Annually Awarded
  • Nomination by GMC PCMA Committee Chairs
  • Member of PCMA and GMC PCMA less than five (5) years
  • GMC PCMA Committee member in good standing
Nominee Attributes

  • Demonstrates passion
  • Has taken an active role in the achievements of the committee by consistently going the extra mile.
  • “Committee Member of the Quarter” winners will automatically be entered as nominees.
